Self-regulate learning is derived from cognitive theories such as information processing, social constructivist and social cognitive theories as well as from behavioral theories. Albert Bandura's behavioral theory suggests that people are influenced by the environment and vice versa. Bandura's social cognitive learning theory framework states that self regulation (controlling one's behavior) consists of three steps: self observation, judgment, and self-response (Boeree, 2006).Self-observation, or deliberate attention to aspects of one's behaviors, informs and motivates. Self-judgment involves comparing present performance with one's goal. Self-judgments are influenced by the type of standards used, goal properties, importance of goal attainment, and performance attributions. Self-reactions to goal progress motivate behavior. The belief that one's progress is acceptable combined with satisfaction of goal accomplishment, enhances self-efficacy and motivation,
